10 Natural Ways to Moisturize Hair

When hair is dry and brittle, moisturize it. Rather than using chemicals, it is better to use natural remedies that moisturize gently while preserving the environment. Here are ten of them.

1. Egg yolk

Egg yolk is a proven remedy used by our grandmothers. Lightly whip an egg yolk in a bowl to obtain a foamy mixture and apply the mixture to the length of the hair. Rinse the hair after 10 minutes and shampoo as usual.

2. Olive oil

Olive oil has a very moisturizing effect and helps to overcome split ends. Simply massage the lengths of the hair avoiding roots with a tablespoon of olive oil (or two for very long hair) and wrap the head in a hot towel for about 30 minutes.

3. Shea butter

Shea butter is an excellent moisturizer for the hair: it gives shine and radiance. Using enough hazelnut oil for the whole head and make sure to penetrate at the tips. Shampoo after at least 30 minutes – but if possible, leave it on overnight.

4. Wash your hair less frequently

The scalp of dry hair does not produce a lot of sebum, washing too frequently tends to dry it even more. There are shampoos that are composed of natural active ingredients and rid of toxic substances, they do not attack the hair – check with your local health store to learn more.

5. Aloe vera

Aloe vera is a plant with many benefits, including that of gently moisturizing the hair. It is possible to use it as a mask on damp hair. It can be applied from the root and all the way to the ends.

6. Honey

Honey treats hair damaged due to lack of hydration. To use it well: mix in a bowl 2 tbsp. tablespoon olive oil with 3 tbsp. coffee honey, and a few drops of lemon juice then apply this preparation as a mask with a half-hour break under a hot towel before proceeding to shampoo as usual.

7. Coconut oil

Coconut oil will bring shine to the hair. Apply once a week to the hair tips before shampooing, wait 20 minutes and rinse.

8. The banana

The banana is nourishing and moisturizing, hence its use in commercial hair conditioners and masks. To make a homemade mask, mix a crushed banana with 1 tbsp. coffee with coconut oil in a bowl, and then apply to the tips before leaving for 30 minutes. Rinse with warm water before shampooing as usual.

9. The avocado

The avocado, thanks to its moisturizing properties, is excellent for skin and hair. Mash the avocado and an egg yolk and apply the mixture over the whole of the hair. Leave for 30 minutes before rinsing and washing your hair as usual.

10. Mayonnaise

Mayonnaise repairs damaged hair thanks to its oil content, egg and vinegar, which gives shine. Mix 2 egg yolks in a bowl with 1 tbsp. cider vinegar and 150 ml of grapeseed oil (promotes hair growth) and whisk well. Apply this treatment to the tips and leave for 20 to 30 minutes and shampoo as usual.
